Photography, for me, begins with a moment of noticing — a shift in light, a quiet detail, a feeling that something is unfolding. Long before a photograph becomes a print, it starts with curiosity and presence. That’s how this journey began.
I first picked up a camera as a way to slow down and remember what I was experiencing — to hold onto the places I’d been and the emotions they carried. My camera quickly became a companion on hikes, travels, and everyday wanderings. Eventually, Martin joined me, bringing his own way of seeing.
Working together didn’t mean blending perspectives; it meant expanding them. Even when we stand side by side, we often walk away with completely different images. Martin might focus on the sweep of a landscape, a break in the clouds, while I’m drawn to a fleeting wildlife moment, or a small detail most people pass by. Those differences shape every collection we create and help us tell a fuller story of the places we explore.
Photography has taken us from remote wilderness and iconic National Parks to vibrant cities and remarkable wildlife destinations. What inspires me most isn’t just where we go — it’s how differently we experience the same place. That contrast, held within a shared creative journey, is at the heart of WalzPhotography.
Our process is slow and intentional. We revisit familiar places in different seasons, wait for the right light, and let scenes reveal themselves. Some images come from patience; others appear in an instant — a sudden animal crossing our path, a dramatic shift in weather, or an unexpected moment on a city street.
Editing is its own quiet ritual. It’s where I refine the mood of a scene and guide the viewer toward the feeling that made me lift the camera in the first place.
Every photograph in our shop was created during our travels. Nothing is AI‑generated. Each image represents a moment we experienced and wanted to preserve — a mountain catching first light, a wildlife encounter lasting only seconds, or a fleeting scene that revealed something beautiful about a place.
After years of collecting these moments, we felt ready to share them more openly. That led to the creation of our new WalzPhotography Etsy Store, built from the images that have shaped us. The opening collection includes landscapes, wildlife, national parks, cityscapes, and other scenes that stayed with us long after we left them.
This is only the beginning. As we continue exploring and creating, the collection will grow — a visual record of the places that move us and the moments that remind us to slow down and look closely.
